Engine Protection Strategies
The ME Platform offers a range of engine protection strategies to keep the engine safe during operation. This is particularly useful for race engines and the conditions they are used.
The following list is the protection strategies available. Note that also you can fit a switch to override protection should a known sensor fault occur and the risk is accepted by the team - useful for a "we must finish the race" situation occurring.
- Protection against low oil pressures
- Protection against extreme exhaust gas temperatures.
- Protection against fuel pressure failure.
- Protection against air fuel ratios drifting too far from targets.
- Protection override functionality.
The Engine Prot. General driver must have its Enabled state set to Yes for other sub systems to operate. Note the status widgets will show various states to indicate why they are or are not operating.
Individual EPS outputs can trigger a warning lamp which you can assign to a spare low side in the Output Settings dialogue.
You can find all of the EPS options under the "Engine Protection" node of the tree view. If easier, use the layout manager to make a new tab and place all entities on display as per below:
