The target idle table is an overall settings table that determines the targeted engine speed when the idle conditions are met. The PID, DBW etc modules will be trimmed by the idle control module to reach this set target. A typical table of which is shown below. Note how we target a higher RPM when the engine is cold. This table only works when in a closed loop mode. In open loop, although the error is reported, it is not used to adjust the idle duty.
